Some courageous young deer walked up to a group of Indiana hunters and began eating young leaves off the trees where the hunters were hiding.
One young buck actually sniffed and the barrel of one hunter’s gun.
The hunters were after turkey. Deer are out of season and the hunters could not shoot them.
Instead the hunters petted the lead deer and joked with it. “Hey, can you tell how big your rack’s going to be in November?” one asked.
One of the hunters, Leon Champine, said later that the young animals didn’t have their mother with them “to teach them what is dangerous.”
Another of the hunters, Corey Cook, videotaped the whole incident. If he hadn’t surely no one would have believed the story.
