Debt Deal Contains Few Provisions to Speed Up Energy Permits Amid Concerns of Pricier, Less Reliable Energy

The debt limit deal does not include sweeping changes to overhaul the permitting process for energy projects, but it is said to have provisions to expedite it.

NTD spoke to Nick Loris, the vice president of public policy at C3 Solutions, who said there are many frustrations with the permitting process, and it’s hard to build anything in the U.S., not just energy projects.

He believes there are systemic problems in this area, specifically with the judicial review and that clean and conventional energy projects can be held up for years in the court. This can lead to pricier and less reliable energy for Americans.
