Deep Dive (Feb. 26): Russia Says US Warning for Syria Airstrike “No Value”

The U.S. military has conducted its first known air strike under the Biden administration. The Pentagon says it is retaliation against Iran-backed militias that attacked Americans in Iraq. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday the United States gave Russia a four to five minute warning before the strikes. He says it wasn’t enough and that the warning was given when the strikes were en route, adding this “has no value even from the angle of deconfliction.”

In the United States, President Joe Biden’s nearly $2 trillion pandemic relief bill is meeting pushback from Republicans. Democrats say the plan isn’t too big and must be passed.
