Defense Secretary James Mattis said the U.S. would support Turkey’s border security.

Turkey is worried about Kurdish soldiers in Syria getting U.S. weapons. The U.S. armed the Kurds to assist in the fight against ISIS there. Turkey has been fighting Kurds within its own borders for years.

Mattis made comments while at a military training site in Lithuania. Mattis is reassuring NATO’s Baltic states that NATO will defend them against Russia.
