Democrats wrapped up their argument to convict former President Donald Trump. More focus was on the aftermath of the breach instead of presenting evidence that Trump was responsible for the violence. Trump’s attorneys will wrap up their arguments by Friday, says a Trump senior advisor.
Over these past two days, the Democrats would have needed to convince 17 Republicans to convict, which is unlikely. But the Democrats could use a constitutional loophole to disqualify Trump from holding office again. They could piece together an argument that the 14th Amendment allows the Senate to disqualify Trump from office with just a simple majority vote.
