Awareness of the persecution against Falun Gong practitioners in China was raised by Polish people at the Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy (the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity) in Lodz on January 14 and 15, 2017. Many Polish people being there have concerned and signed the petition calling for an end to forced organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
Many young people couldn’t believe such an atrocity of live organ harvesting was going on in China in the 21st century, but the older Poles readily understood how this could happen under the communist regime.
An elderly woman, Anna Hertmanowska, said, “I heard about the Communist Party’s persecution of Falun Gong a long time ago. I have been looking for more information. I know this [practice] is what I have been looking for. I didn’t know the persecution was so bad! My heart is shaking. I must sign the petition! The persecution must stop! Must!”
Despite the snow, many stopped to sign the petition against persecution.
A young Chinese couple passed by the Falun Gong display. The man greeted a practitioner happily, “Hello! Nice to see you again!” He had heard about the persecution from other Falun Gong practitioners before and had chosen to take a stance by withdrawing from the Communist organizations he had joined. For the woman, this was her first encounter with the facts about the brutal persecution. She, too, decided to quit the Young Pioneers and Youth League.
