DHS Ends ‘Remain in Mexico’ Policy

The Biden administration has officially ended the Trump-era “remain in Mexico” policy. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas ordered employees to no longer enforce the policy. This means that any illegal immigrant who claims they are seeking asylum, even if they were caught trying to enter the United States illegally, will be released into the United States while they await their court dates.
