DHS to Start Processing Migrants for Entry, Slashing Trump’s Policy

Starting this week, 25,000 migrants who have been waiting in Mexico for legal entry into the United States will be processed for entry. The Biden administration is a step closer to squashing Trump’s Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP).

The Department of Homeland Security said their new direction “should not be interpreted as an opening for people to migrate irregularly to the United States.” The White House press secretary told migrants that now is not the time to come because most asylum seekers will be turned away.

However, Jessica Vaughan, director of Policy Studies at the Center for Immigration Studies, warns that actions speak louder than words.
