The world number one tennis player Novak Djokovic has arrived back in Belgrade. It follows a two-week saga over his visa, in which he ultimately lost his appeal against a deportation order. Three court judges on Sunday upheld the decision that Djokovic’s visa be canceled on “public interest” grounds. They deemed that his decision not to be vaccinated against COVID-19 poses a risk to Australia.

Today is the first day of the Australian Open. Tennis fans in Australia say they feel relieved they can now concentrate on the game, while critics say the competition is diminished without the reigning champion.
