Chris Trokey was born a premature in 1985. At the time, the medical staff informed the family that he had a 50% of survival. The doctor who delivered Chris and ultimately saved his life was Dr. Michael Shannon. That was more than 30 years ago.

In 2011, Dr. Shannon was involved in a terrible car crash that left him trapped in his vehicle after being hit by a truck. He was pinned in his own burning vehicle and couldn’t escape. Orange County Fire Authority paramedics arrived on the scene. One of those paramedics was Chris Trokey. The same Chris Trokey whom Dr. Shannon had delivered and cared for at birth, saving his life. On that day in 2011, the roles were reversed, and Dr. Shannon’s life was saved by Chris Trokey.

This incredible story of returning a life-saving favor, quite by coincidence, was celebrated when the pair both participated in a fundraiser in Rancho Santa Margarita, California. Two heroes spent the day swapping stories and cutting hair in an effort to raise money to save even more lives.
