Adopted dog wakes up his sleeping owners right in time and saves their 9-week-old baby!

When you bring home a dog to be a part of your family, you don’t expect much of him except be there to be petted, or perhaps warn you if strangers are prowling around your home. But this dog did a lot more than was expected of him!

Dogs are well known for their amazing abilities, like their “sixth sense” that is developed to a high degree. They seem to be more worried and alert about the welfare of the family members than they are themselves.

Duke had been with the Brousseau family for six years when their daughter Harper was born.

Duke was a well-behaved dog, and the couple were very happy and relaxed when they realized he was very protective of the new baby.

When the Brousseaus’ adopted Duke six years ago, they would never have thought Duke would one day be a savior to their family.

One night he woke them up by climbing up on to the bed and shaking vigorously, showing them he was upset about something.

This was unusual behavior on his part, so they immediately sensed something was amiss.

So, they went and checked on their 9-week-old baby, Harper. They found that their baby girl was not breathing…

They rushed to call 911 and the ambulance reached there in time.

“If Duke hadn’t been so scared, we were just going to sleep,” said Mrs. Brousseau in the ABC News video below.

“He is a perfect dog, he was meant, meant to be ours… he is a good boy!”

Were it not for Duke, well the family does not even want to imagine what would have happened!

They are truly grateful to their ordinary looking yet extra-ordinary dog and are extremely happy for taking him in as a family member six years ago – it seems like this adorable pet has paid his debt back over many times!
