Imagine you’re a 5-month-old puppy and you’re wandering around, minding your own business when suddenly you fall into a tar pit. You lie there helplessly and hope that some kind person will stop to help rid your body of the sticky, oily mess. With each passing minute the tar hardens and your breath quickens. Who will come and save you?

This is the terrifying experience that one dog had to live through after he found himself stuck in a pool of tar and unable to free himself. Luckily for him, a passerby spotted him and called an animal rescue group.

When the rescuers came to the dog’s aid, the poor pup could barely move.

It took them several hours just to get the dog out of the tar pit.

In order for the rescuers to get the tar off the dog’s body they used large quantities of vegetable oil.

The dog, appropriately named Tar Baby, was taken to an animal shelter where it took a few more days to massage the sticky substance off his body.

Once Tar Baby’s furry body was free of the tar, his attitude changed and he undoubtedly thanked his rescuers for saving his life.
