This year’s Fjallraven Polar wrapped up on April 9.

Twenty-eight people from 12 countries and more than 200 sled dogs crossed 186 miles of Arctic wilderness as part of the dog-sledding expedition from Norway to Sweden.

They experienced everything from blizzards and subzero temperatures, to the Northern Lights and stunning Nordic landscapes.

The event is on its 20th year.

Fjallraven Polar was founded by Ake Nordin, who is also the founder of Swedish outdoor gear and clothing brand Fjallraven.

Nordin got the idea in the early 1990s when he met Kenth Fjellborg, one of Sweden’s leading dog-sled drivers. Fjellborg had participated in the Iditarod, a dog sled competition that goes through the harsh Alaskan wilderness. It is one of the most difficult races of its kind.

They wanted to create a Swedish equivalent but for ordinary people who have no dog-sledding expertise. And thus Fjallraven Polar was born.
