President Donald Trump’s sons enjoyed their time in Ireland on June 5, buying drinks for locals in Doonbeg during the president’s multi-day visit to the United Kingdom.
“We love you guys so much. Thank you for treating us like family,” Eric Trump told people in the pub after pouring them drinks, according to video from the Press Association.
When one of the proprietors emerged, he and Donald Trump Jr. thanked her.
“This is a lot better than New York City,” he said, according to the Irish Times.

“We love everything about Doonbeg,” Eric Trump added. “We feel like home here. It’s just great to be with each and every one of you.”
People applauded as he finished up.
President Trump owns a golf course in the town and has a number of fans there. A slew of people donned “Make America Great Again” hats and shirts as they welcomed the Americans to the village.
According to Reuters, “the people here credit their father with securing their livelihoods” after Trump bought the course in 2014.

Inside the pub, local Clara Bells told Reuters, “They’re very humble so we weren’t expecting that so it was a great welcome and they have a tab on so we all had free drinks so I’m thankful for that.”
Tommy Turbidy, the owner of the pub, added: “Well it’s like this, people like us are really down to earth people. And the way they came and mingled with the crowd and met everybody, welcomed, I thought that was fantastic the way they handled it.”
Another local resident said: “They were lovely gentlemen so it’s great to have them. They’ll be great for Doonbeg.”
President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump stayed at his golf course, Trump International Golf Links, after meeting with Ireland’s Prime Minister Leo Varadkar on June 5. They traveled to Normandy, France, on Thursday for a D-Day event and meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron and were due to fly back to Doonbeg and stay there on Thursday night.
