Some 1,500 meals, 80 volunteers, and a line of cars that stretched a mile through The Saint Andrew United Methodist church parking lot.

The sixth annual Thanksgiving meal giveaway was in full blessing-mode.

Terry Breedlove said: “Our ministry is to provide the turkey and the fixings for the family so they can come together and concentrate on bringing their family and growing their family and let’s be thankful for what we have.”

The meal included green beans, cranberry sauce, corn, carrots and, of course, a turkey.

The families who registered with the storehouse of Collin County to get a meal say it was a gift they wouldn’t have been able to provide themselves.

Rachel Mercer said: “Since I live from paycheck to paycheck even though I’m a caregiver, I don’t get much for caring for her. And so this helps to feed both of us.”

And they have Michael Rapkoch to thank.

He bought the meals—his way of giving back.

Michael Rapkoch said: “We’ve been blessed. We wanna make sure—I mean look at all the people that are coming for it, and, you know, just to be able to have a great Thanksgiving.”

Helene Jones said this will be a meal she’ll enjoy with her grandchildren.

Jones said: “This is a chance for us to be thankful as a family and to also be thankful for what we’re receiving here.”
