Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Visit Poland, Germany

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will take a royal tour of Poland and Germany, Kensington Palace announced on Twitter June 13.

In Poland, Kate Middleton and Prince William will visit Warsaw and Gdansk, and in Germany, they will visit Berlin, Heidelberg, and Hamburg between July 17 and July 25.

This is Prince William’s second official visit to Germany, his first being last summer, and their first official visit to Poland.

The trip comes as the United Kingdom grinds its way through the motions of leaving the European Union after Britons voted 52 to 48 last June to leave the 28-nation bloc.

The Sun reported that the trip was organized by the U.K. Foreign Office and quoted an aide as saying the couple are “very much seen as unofficial Brexit ambassadors.”

Prince Charles traveled to Dusseldorf, Germany, last summer to honor the British armed forces based there.

He assured Germany that despite leaving the European Union, the the two nations would remain friends.

“’This partnership will continue despite Britain’s recent decision to leave the European Union. The depth of our friendship with Germany and with North Rhine-Westphalia will not change,” he said, according to The Daily Mail.

What they will do on their upcoming trip to the two EU nations, and whether they will bring their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, has not been released.
