Being dumped alive proved the best thing for her, now she is an amputee but one happy dog!

Chi Chi, a golden retriever, was being “raised” on a dog farm to eventually end up as a savory dish on someone’s table. The torture process included being hung upside down for hours for days on end and the result was the poor dog was no longer considered good “meat.” So she was dumped in the garbage!

Not all consider dogs as lovable creatures, to be included and loved as family members. Some, are seen as a source of protein, to be included on dining tables. In some parts of the world dog meat is considered as a delicacy.

But that does not validate why the animals have to be tortured and subjected to cruelty while they are still alive, just to render their meat more delectable to consumers. The cruelty these helpless, voiceless creatures are subjected to, is horrible and inhumane.

Now can you ever imagine your beloved pet as somebody’s dinner? No, right?             ARME – Animal Rescue, Media & Education / Facebook
Many countries have dog-meat farms where the dogs are raised for slaughter houses. But subjecting them to cruelty while they are still alive cannot be justified. Most times, before rescuers from the animal rights groups reach them, these dogs have already met their ultimate fate.

Chi Chi, a beautiful, loving, golden retriever, was subjected to all kinds of torture at the dog-meat farm. But she survived them all, except, unfortunately, she lost all four of her paws.

Chi Chi, a beautiful, lively and loving golden-retriever, somehow survived all the tortures that were inflicted on her in the dog-meat farm, but in the process lost all four of her paws.

The rescuers could not imagine the horrible experiences she may have endured, but the condition she was found in would say a lot.

In dog farms, the dogs are kept hung upside down by their paws to render her meat more delectable. That would probably explain Chi Chi’s condition.
But that did not happen, since the circulation to her paws was cut off, it caused them to necrotize. Chi Chi was no longer considered fit for consumption and was dumped in the garbage—alive.

Being dumped was the best thing that could have happened to the poor little dog, as things took a turn for the better. The dog-rescue organization called Dogs in the Dark soon found her.
They brought her back to the sanctuary. Unfortunately, they were too late to save Chi Chi’s infected paws and all four had to be amputated. This was to prevent the infection from spreading to the rest of her body.
Ironically, being dumped like a piece of trash was the best thing that could have happened to Chi Chi, because that's when everything got better for her.ARME – Animal Rescue, Media & Education / Facebook
The rest of Chi Chi’s body seemed to be okay. Only her paws had to be amputated. The surgery was a success.  She was then brought to California where she soon displayed her true loving, happy, self.
Fortunately, the rest of Chi Chi's body seemed okay. She just needed to get through the amputation.
Once she reached California, the volunteers of Animal Rescue, Media, and Education (ARME) took over. They all chipped in to help Chi Chi return to a normal, happy life.
Her new adoptive family, the Howells brought her home to Arizona where she first felt grass under her nonexistent paws. Her physical condition did nothing to prevent her from displaying the vibrant side of her loving nature.
The Howells already had three other rescue dogs, but they could not resist adopting Chi Chi once they laid eyes on this beautiful dog.

Once the adoption procedure was completed, the Howells started a fundraising campaign. They thought of providing her with prosthetic legs so that she could have a life as close to normal as possible.
As soon as they adopted Chi Chi, the Howells began doing a little fundraising to help her walk again.

The prosthetic legs would never replace the function of original legs but would certainly give her some mobility. They managed to raise $ 3,000.
“Chi Chi is very playful. She is always getting her toys out and loves to be out and about. So the prosthetic legs have given her so much more freedom,” the Howells mentioned in an interview.
This story rightly proves that humans can be both kind and cruel; it depends which part of the personality we want to develop! Let’s try to be good and compassionate to all!
