Ebrahim Raisi Was ‘a Grizzly Figure, a Sadistic Figure’: Middle East Affairs Analyst

Iranian state media says Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian are dead after a helicopter crash in Northwestern Iran on Sunday.

NTD spoke with David Wurmser, Middle East affairs analyst at the Center for Security Policy, to find out more about who Mr. Raisi was—and what his death means on the international stage. “Raisi was considered by the Iranian people ‘The Butcher of Tehran,'” said Mr. Wurmser. “Truly a grisly figure, a sadistic figure. I’m rather shocked the United States has expressed its condolences.”
