Efforts to Regulate AI Too Early May Stifle Innovation: Jake Morabito

Microsoft spoke at a UK parliamentary hearing and criticized the European Union’s efforts to regulate how artificial intelligence (AI) is introduced and developed. The company is criticizing the bloc’s risk-based approach to regulating the technology. Meanwhile, in the United States, generative AI is quickly changing the tech world, and now some lawmakers, like Rep. Jacob Auchincloss (D-Mass.), are urging Congress to get an early advantage over regulating AI.

NTD speaks to Jake Morabito, the director of the American Legislative Exchange Council’s Communications and Technology Task Force. Morabito says, “Something that I’m concerned about is that if legislators get too far ahead of the curve with legislation, they’re going to stifle innovation.”
