A Florida man told police that he shot his wife in the face for speaking to him disrespectfully, according to reports.

Fernando De Baere and his wife, Marisa Sherman, were having a discussion about a co-worker, The Sun Sentinel reported. De Baere felt his wife was speaking to him disrespectfully, and told her to stop.

When she wouldn’t stop he went into the closet, pulled out a revolver, and came back over to her. As he pointed the gun at her, she continued to talk to him in the same way.

A police report obtained by the Sun Sentinel indicates De Baere shot his wife one or two times from about three feet away. De Baere is 73-years-old, his wife was 47.

After De Baere shot his wife, he went over to the house next door and confessed to his neighbor about what he’d done, according to the report obtained by Sun Sentinel.

The neighbor called 911 to report the crime. Police found Sherman sitting upright on the living room couch, where she was pronounced dead at 10:36 p.m. on May 8, according the Sun Sentinel.

Police found the gun in the bedroom closet, where De Baere told them he placed it.

Hospital Bed Tragedy

Another domestic shooting incident occurred in 2018, but with a very different motive. A 71-year-old man shot his wife in her hospital bed, and then killed himself. The tragedy took place at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York, Fox 5 reported at the time. His wife was 70-years-old.

The man, Richard DeLucia of Yorktown, New York, left a note at his home that said he wanted to end his wife’s suffering, NBC 4 reported. Ann DeLucia, his wife, had medical issues.

Richard DeLucia had once owned a well known catering hall in the area.

Wile the hospital does employ armed guards, it does not conduct through searches of visitors who enter, according to NBC 4.

Phoenix Cheating Tragedy

Last month a man in Phoenix killed his wife, two of his children, and a man he believed was having an affair with his wife, CNN reported.

Austin Smith came home from a bar and accused his wife of cheating on him. He shot and killed his wife and his 5-year-old daughter, and killed his 7-year-old daughter through blunt force trauma, ABC 15 reported.

The man then drove to the home of the man he thought his wife was cheating on him with, and shot and killed him, injured two other people, Sgt. Tommy Thompson of the Phoenix Police Department told CNN.

His 3-year-old daughter was found by police unharmed. She had been hiding under a bed.

Smith told police that he didn’t kill the third daughter because she “reminded him of himself,” ABC 15 reported.

“The car was stopped a short distance from the scene … and the suspect, Austin Smith was taken into custody without incident,” Thompson told CNN.

The family released a statement after the shooting, obtained by CNN:

“We are in anguish over the senseless loss of our beloved Dasia and her young children. As we try to process our profound grief, our focus is on the welfare of her sole surviving three-year-old daughter. She just lost her mother and sisters, and we want nothing more than for her to be with her family right now,” the family said, in part.
