A female emperor penguin chick living at SeaWorld San Diego has officially been named Pearl, after more than 29,000 people cast votes to name the two-month-old chick, the aquarium and theme park announced on Thursday.

SeaWorld supervisor of birds Melissa Ramsey noted Pearl had trouble breaking out of her shell due to a beak malformation when she was born Sep. 12, so staff assisted in cracking her egg.
