Larry Elder Debunks Black Lives Matter Leader Who Said ‘Poverty Causes Crime’

Recently, the head of the Black Lives Matter chapter in New York said, “Crime is caused by poverty.” However, Larry Elder says the opposite is true: Some areas with high poverty don’t have much criminal activity, but areas with a lot of crime tend to have a lot of poverty. In addition, the “war on poverty” in the 1960s led to a situation where a much higher percentage of black children were born without both a mother and a father in the home. As Barack Obama said, “Children who grow up without a father are five times more likely to live in poverty and commit crime.”
