EU Media Freedom Act Conceals Censorship Threat: Member of Parliament

The European Parliament recently passed the Media Freedom Act with strong support, aiming to regulate press conduct and combat misinformation while addressing extremism and foreign interference. Critics fear the legislation could restrict press freedom through increased monitoring and potential legal action against journalists and online platforms accused of spreading misinformation.

NTD spoke with German Member of Parliament, Christine Anderson, who highlighted concerns over the act’s potential to restrict dissenting narratives and its creation of a new legislative tool to protect official narratives, risking censorship.
