Europe Puts Brakes on Cross-Sex Hormones

While transgender surgery and hormonal treatment go ahead in the U.S., European countries take a more skeptical stance. Some experts doubt the benefits of puberty-suppressing hormones while pointing to evidence of long-term risks. Therefore, they recommend psychotherapy over cross-sex procedures.
