Before the exams, students see individualized notes on their desks written by the teacher… Truly inspirational!

Good teachers can do wonders with students! In school all of us had teachers who inspired us and motivated us to do our best. These teachers made our time in school special and probably still continue to contribute through all that they instilled in us.

A fifth-grade teacher Chandni Langford, who teaches at New Jersey’s Woodbury School System is one such teacher who has unique ways of encouraging her students. Her ways and methods are inspiring many around the world.

Amazing teachers do special things!

Academic session approached the end in Woodbury School and students started to prepare for what makes them very anxious – standardized testing. The tests are different in different states of US and in New Jersey, it’s known as PARCC.

Mrs. Langford did something brilliant and very thoughtful to encourage her students when they were feeling stressed because of the tests. Her amazing idea went out of her classroom and got known to the world through a Facebook post.

Can you imagine what she did! Prior to test she wrote each of her students individualized notes on their desks.

Regulation by PARCC say that prior to testing, all kinds of written material should be covered up. To adhere to this regulation, she used dry-erase markers and wrote her students wonderful, encouraging messages that could be easily wiped off before the test started.

There was a thoughtful, unique message for every student, it was something that each child could connect to and immediately draw motivation from. Each message was written keeping in mind that student’s special needs and learning styles.

Each message was signed as “Your Teachers.” This made students feel that everyone is supporting them and wishing best for them. And if this was not enough, she left on each desk a pair of donut holes as a treat. There was a note attached along and it read, “Donut stress.  Take your time and do your best!”

The school wrote the following message along with the photos:

“To motivate her 5th grade students, Mrs. Langford at Evergreen Avenue prepared inspirational, growth-mindset messages for every one of her students. Each personalized note was written in dry-erase marker on students’ desks so they could be cleaned up prior to starting PARCC.”
