A bombshell new report in Holland says that for over a decade, the biggest telecom company in the country, KPN, knew its network was compromised by China. Huawei built and allegedly still manages the core of the network, and that reportedly allowed China to listen in on everyone’s conversations, including the prime minister’s. China also apparently knew who the Dutch secret service was tracking and listening in on, and it could even access the network core remotely from China. KPN knew this in 2010 but didn’t say anything. The leaked report says letting people know would have been disastrous for the company’s reputation.
