Expert: EU’s Digital ID a Step Toward China

The European Commission recently reaffirmed the EU’s digital development agenda for 2030. One of the projects is the Digital Identity Wallet. This wallet would function as an identity card and a payment tool, and would also store private health data—all on your smartphone. While its proponents present it as a convenient tool, some experts think this could move Europe closer to China’s social credit system.
