The G-7 (Group of Seven) nations—the United States, Canada, the UK, France, Germany, Japan, and Italy—have a plan to counter China’s plan for world domination, the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The G-7’s plan is called the Build Back Better World, like President Joe Biden’s plan for the United States.

The G-7 wants to spend $40 trillion to get ahead of China’s shady loans to the developing world—Africa, South America, or even sometimes countries like Italy. Its loans have been called “debt traps,” with the Chinese regime often confiscating key pieces of infrastructure, like ports or bridges, when the host country can’t make repayments.

Frank Gaffney served as Assistant Secretary of Defense for the International Security Policy under President Ronald Reagan. He’s now vice chairman at the Committee on the Present Danger: China. It’s about to release a new report on the BRI. NTD asked Gaffney what he’s learned.
