The spokesman of the main opposition New Democracy party in Greece, Vassilis Kikilias, met with Greek Public Order Minister Nikos Toskas on Friday, (March 17) after his name was listed on the return address of an envelope, which exploded at the European offices of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Paris a day earlier.

Toskas confirmed on Thursday that the envelope, which injured a female IMF employee, was sent from Greece.

A Greek militant group, the Conspiracy of Fire Cells, claimed responsibility for a similar package of explosives that was intercepted by German authorities on Wednesday. That package, addressed to German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schäuble, had listed Adonis Georgiadis, vice chairman of the same party, as its sender.

The Conspiracy of Fire Cells has claimed responsibility for a wave of parcel bombs sent to foreign embassies in Athens in 2010.

Greece is in negotiations with European creditors and the IMF over austerity reforms to be implemented under its bailout program.
