Facebook page helps dad raise a newborn when mom abandons both of them

Along with a child are born a mother and a father. The birth of a child brings unimaginable happiness to the parents. But what if the mom abandons the child and the father, leaving them saddened when it’s time to celebrate!

Richard Johnson’s daughter Persephone was born in January 2015 and soon after due to postpartum depression, his wife ran away with the child to California. She later threatened to put up Persephone for adoption if Richard didn’t immediately reclaim the baby.

The new dad faced challenges when he was reunited with his daughter. It was his first attempt at raising a child. He was looking for help and he found it on the facebook page – Life of Dad that is a community of single fathers like him.

According to one of his post on the community page, Richard shares that he comes from a family of divorce and was raised by a single mother. “When my father left when I was 6 I didn’t know I wouldn’t see or hear from him again until I was 21. So being that I never had a father it was truly frightening to become one,” he said.

The community on Facebook provided him the necessary emotional support and love that he badly needed. Richard, being the good human being he’s urged the community not to blame his wife and pass negative comments about her.

“Her mother is an amazing woman and I will have to ask the few people who had negative things to say about her to please refrain from doing so. No matter what she is the mother of my child and I only wish the absolute best for her,” he said.

“We’re both very happy now and continue to grow together every day. She’s now 10 months, and I now get asked by my friends for parenting advice constantly. We’ve come a long way, my daughter and me, and we definitely owe part of that to this page and the people within it. So from both of us, we wanted to thank you,” said Richard on Facebook.
