How do you look for a lost pet tortoise? Call its name? Put out tortoise food? Whatever works! This family used a community website, posting that they had lost their pet tortoise, “Harriet,” and couldn’t find her anywhere! This may seem trivial to some, but when you are four-years-old your pet “anything” getting lost is a major crisis. Such was the case with young Macey shown in this video.

Harriet is an African land tortoise that went missing, apparently escaping the backyard through a hole in the fence. The local news station community website helped the owners by posting Harriet’s pictures, and sure enough, someone called to report a tortoise who resembled Harriet an awful lot just one mile away.

An African land tortoise can grow to be up to 300 lbs., and Harriet is well under that. If that day comes, she will be much more difficult to lose.

Tortoise recovered. Family with four-year-old relieved.
