Rapper Mac Miller was arrested on DUI and hit and run charges, according to reports.
TMZ, citing law enforcement sources, reported that he was driving in California’s San Fernando Valley at around 1 a.m. on Thursday when his vehicle hit a power pole, knocking it down.
Mac and two passengers fled the scene on foot, and an eyewitness called the police saying that he and several others fled the scene, according to the report.
“Cops arrived at the crash scene, ran the plates and got Mac’s address. They went to his home and we’re told he confessed to driving drunk and fleeing the scene,” TMZ reported.
But according to one law enforcement source, who spoke to TMZ, the rapper “was the most polite and nice intoxicated person we’ve ever seen.”
He was placed in handcuffs and taken to jail. His bail was set at $15,000. TMZ noted that he was “still behind bars” during the time of the report.
He’s slated to appear at the Van Nuys Municipal Court on June 7, according to the New York Post’s Page Six.
His former girlfriend, singer Ariana Grande, tweeted about the arrest, saying, “Pls take care of yourself,” according to MTV.
Last week, Grande, 24, went to Instagram to write up about her relationship with Miller.
“This is one of my best friends in the whole world and favorite people on the planet,” she said, according to People magazine. “I respect and adore him endlessly and am grateful to have him in my life in any form, at all times regardless of how our relationship changes or what the universe holds for each of us!”
