The Federal Communications Commission, or FCC, is asking the Justice Department to detail if a Chinese telecoms firm poses a security risk to the United States.

The FCC asked in a letter if and how China Unicom is subject to “exploitation, influence, and control of the Chinese government, and the national security and law enforcement risks associated” with this. The FCC asked for a response by November 16th.
