Major fires and heavy rains, it’s a tough Thanksgiving for California.

More than 300 people are not accounted for in the Woolsey fire, but at least the Southern California fire is now fully contained.

In Northern California, however, crews are spending this holiday weekend fighting fires.

“I can only imagine how tired they are, and what they’ve been going through, and where in the country they’ve come from to work on our fire. But we’re just so happy they’re here,” says Deborah Valdez, a Malibu homeowner.

The Camp Fire killed 84 people, and more than 500 people are not accounted for.

“For about five hours I didn’t know if my children were safe. It was the scariest time of my life,” says Donilda Richardson, an Oroville Resident.

While the fires scorched more than 250 thousand acres of land, heavy rain is expected in the next few days with a flash flood warning issued for California.

It may be a trying time, but it’s also when humanity presents its best.

“I just want to thank everyone, not just the firefighters but all the civilians who helped out throughout the entire process, saw amazing things from people helping out,” says Chico Fire Division Chief, Jesse Alexander.
