Several firefighter crews battled a large blaze at a mansion in Chandler, Arizona, on the morning of Thursday, Nov. 29.

Firefighters were dispatched for a call of a structure on fire just before three in the morning, according to Deputy Chief Eric Kriwer with the Arizona Fire and Medical Authority.

Upon arrival, they found the nearly 12,000 square foot home fully engulfed.

Crews entered the second story of the home to attack the fire but had to quickly exit the home and go on the defensive because of its sheer size.

“Within the first 15-20 minutes they had to go defensive,” Kriwer said.

Four people and five dogs were all rescued safely from the home.

“The early morning fires are the most dangerous fires,” Kriwer said. “So life safety is our No. 1 concern.”

The blaze was so massive that crews from Arizona Fire and Medical Authority, Gilbert, Mesa, and Chandler were all on scene to extinguish the blaze.

Kriwer said there will be an extensive fire investigation.

No injuries have been reported.
