A building in Dubai went up in flames in the early morning of April 2. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control.
The 60-story tower, named Address Residences Fountain Views, was still being developed by Emaar Properties. It is located downtown in an area popular with shoppers and tourists.
Firefighters closed roads around the building as they worked to put out the blaze.
The Dubai Media Office later tweeted that the fire was under control, with cooling operations underway and no injuries reported.
It is the second fire to hit an Emaar building. The developer’s Address Downtown hotel was badly damaged by a fire on New Year’s Eve 2015. That building, which is due to reopen before the end of 2017, is located close to Fountain Views.
This is the most recent case in a string of fires at tall buildings in Dubai over the past two years. Authorities are working to tighten safety regulations on new buildings.
