First Lady Jill Biden has tested positive for COVID-19, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confirmed on Monday night.

President Joe Biden has since been tested and returned a negative result tonight.

“Following the First Lady’s positive test for COVID-19, President Biden was administered a COVID test this evening,” Ms. Jean-Pierre said in a statement. “The President tested negative.

“The President will test at a regular cadence this week and monitor for symptoms.”

Ms. Biden is currently experiencing only mild symptoms, according to a statement from her communications director, Elizabeth Alexander.

The first lady will remain at their home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, as she continues to recover and follow health guidelines.

Mrs. Biden previously tested positive for COVID-19 in the summer of 2022 while on vacation in South Carolina. The president had tested positive in July of the same year. They both were deemed rebound cases after undergoing treatment with Paxlovid.
