Five countries get uncontested election to UN Security Council

The U.N. elected five countries to the security council. Each of the countries won with no declining votes.

Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea, Kuwait, Peru, and Poland will now serve for two-year terms. Italy and the Netherlands share a seat at the U.N. They will switch off on Jan. 1, bringing the Netherlands in.

The Security Council allows countries a voice in world security.
