Newborns are the most vulnerable members of our society.
Unfortunately, a new mother in crisis can sometimes feel as though her only option is to abandon her infant. However, specialized Safe Havens for newborn babies give distressed new mothers the option of surrendering their baby at, for example, a fire station instead, where personnel have been trained to care for it.
NTD’s Andrew Thomas spoke with a deputy fire chief in South Florida to learn how a non-profit is saving babies—while also looking out for their mothers.
