A Florida woman was arrested after she left a young child in her car overnight, leaving the 3-year-old girl overheated and drifting in and out consciousness, officials said on Sunday.

The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, in a statement, wrote that Casey Dyan Keller, 33, of Sanford, was charged with child neglect with great bodily harm.

“The investigation began today at approximately 11:12 a.m. when deputies responded to the Vista Haven Apartments located in the 200 block of Petunia Terrace in unincorporated Sanford, in reference to a missing 3-year-old child left in a vehicle that was possibly stolen,” officials said.

The vehicle was discovered in the parking lot, not running with the windows were rolled up. Deputies found the missing 3-year-old child, who was overheated, the office said.

“The child was rushed to a local hospital where she remains in critical but stable condition,” the sheriff’s office added. Officials told ClickOrlando that the child is expected to make a full recovery.

Keller had traveled to a liquor store on Saturday night with three children, returning home at 11:15 p.m. She took the two other children into an apartment, leaving the 3-year-old in the car.

Keller realized that the child was missing, prompting her to call 911 to report it.

“Investigators found no evidence that the vehicle was tampered with or stolen and determined Keller left the child inside overnight. Keller was arrested and booked into the John E. Polk Correctional Facility on a $15,000 bond,” the office stated.

“It upsets me very bad,” said neighbor Brenda Johnson, ClickOrlando reported. “I cried. Honestly, I cried. It shook me up pretty bad. She laid there lifelessly.”

“I just can’t see any mother that’s a responsible mother to not know your kid’s in the car, especially all night,” Johnson added.

Johnson, who apparently witnessed the rescue, said that the officer pulled the child out of the car and “ran to his truck really quick, then bolted to the hospital.”

Neighbor Barbara Pitts said Keller knocked on her door before she knew the child went missing.

“Last night she came and she was banging on my door, and I had no idea what was going on, and she did it for 30 minutes, and I kept trying to tell her she had the wrong door,” Pitts told ClickOrlando.

The two other children are now staying with family members. Keller is slated to appear in court on Monday.
