Difficult Landing

The plane arrived back at the airport and its pilots performed a controlled crash landing 43 minutes after departing.

The pilots were unable to stop the plane on the runway and rolled off the end.

Passenger Invor Bedessee told CBC News that it seemed that the plane’s brakes were not functioning upon landing.

Airport personnel laid down spike strips which punctured the plane’s right-side tires which helped the plane to slow.

The plane came to rest in a sand berm at the end of the runway, just short of a small cliff.

“We crashed into a big sand pile at an edge of a cliff. There’s a big drop about 30-40 feet on the other side,” Bedessee explained. “If we had 10 more feet, we would be down in the ditch.”
