The foreign ministers of the EU, Germany, the U.K., and France all expressed sympathy for Russian bomb-blast victims, Monday, April 3.

The ministers were in Luxembourg discussing Syria when news of the subway explosion came through.

The blast, midway between two stations of the St. Petersburg subway, killed at least 10 people and injured dozens more.

“Obviously our condolences go to all Russian people and in particular those who lost their loved ones and we continue to follow the news coming from St. Petersburg with a lot of apprehension, said EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini.

“It is with great dismay we have just learned about the attacks in St. Petersburg, where many people were injured or maybe even killed. It is not entirely clear whether it is an attack but it looks that way and people who just went about their lives have become victims,” said German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel. “Next to the horror there is the large grief and sympathy for the affected families and the people in Russia.”

Russia’s National Anti-Terrorist Committee said a second bomb was found at a different station.

Russian news reports that surveillance cameras captured images of people setting the bomb.

An explosion midway between stations in a St. Petersburg subway tunnel killed at least 10 and injured dozens more.

“We don’t yet know exactly what is behind this or who is responsible for this outrage but clearly our thoughts are very much today with the families of the victims and with the people of St. Petersburg just as a few days ago they were with the people of London,” said U.K. Foreign Minister Boris Johnson.

Russian President Vladimir Putin was visiting St. Petersburg at the time of the blast.
