Lions cubs were born at a Chilean zoo after the father had a successful reversal of vasectomy. The procedure was a first successful one for a lion anywhere. It took months of planning, and five hours to complete.
Zoo director Dr. Ignacio Idalsoaga talked about the significance of the procedure, “Lions in the world are disappearing naturally and today we are going back and starting at reproduction, thinking that the children and nephews of this couple could return to Africa at any minute.”
