Following the Mueller Probe, former U.S. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein left the Department of Justice back in May 2019 and joined a law firm, according to a press release issued by the law firm, King & Spalding.

As stated by the press release, King & Spalding announced that Rosenstein joined the company in the Washington D.C. office on Jan. 8 as a partner for the company’s Special Matters & Government Investigation team. As per his previous job as the U.S. Deputy Attorney General, Rosenstein held senior legal management and leadership positions while at the U.S. Department of Justice. He served under former presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, and most recently, under President Donald Trump. Those positions included Deputy Attorney General between the years 2017 and 2019, and the United States Attorney between the years 2007 and 2017, the press release stated.

According to the press release, Robert D. He will be help clients from all backgrounds, including corporations, institutions, or individuals.

His profile with the U.S. Department of Justice, stated that during his time as the Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the Tax Division of the United States Department of Justice, Rosenstein “supervised the Division’s criminal sections and coordinated the tax enforcement activities of the Tax Division, the U.S. Attorney’s Offices and the Internal Revenue Service. He also oversaw civil litigation and served as the acting head of the Tax Division when the Assistant Attorney General was unavailable. He also briefed and argued federal civil appeals.”

Regarding his decision to come to King & Spalding, said, according to the press release issued by the firm, that he worked for lawyers from both Republican and Democratic administrations. In those years of working as an attorney, he came to learn that the best lawyers were at King & Spalding. When considering what he should do after leaving the Department of Justice, he said it became apparent to him why every good government attorney came to that company.

“With an unparalleled depth of experience across its practice groups and a long and distinguished record of success in courtrooms, King & Spalding is a bipartisan firm that focuses on helping clients resolve complex and sensitive matters in the United States and abroad,” Rosenstein said. “The inclusive and collaborative culture allows every client to benefit from the broad expertise and deep insight of more than 1,100 exceptional lawyers throughout the firm’s 21 offices.”
