A 9-year-old girl in Arizona is helping to make sure families won’t go hungry this holiday season.

Madelyn Neckles is working to make a difference in her community, especially as Thanksgiving approaches.

Madelyn said, “Somebody like that just picks up your spirits and lets everybody know that there’s people out there who really want to do good.”

After hearing St. Mary’s Food Bank was still in need of 6,000 turkeys earlier this week … Madelyn was eager to help in any way she could.

The fourth-grader made a goal for herself to collect 100 turkeys. And to get the attention of neighbors and relatives, she decided to make a flyer.

Madelyn said, “I drew like a turkey with my hand and I said help me collect 100 turkeys for the turkey drive.”

In just two days, she collected 93 turkeys. And she’s collected over $400 in donations, which she’ll use to buy more turkeys.

Madelyn said, “So everybody can have Thanksgiving this year that doesn’t have enough to buy them, like turkeys, and Thanksgiving dinner.”
