France’s newly elected members of parliament took their seats in Paris Tuesday, but none of the three main blocs—the leftist coalition, President Emmanuel Macron’s centrist Renaissance party, or the National Rally—secured the 289 seats needed for control. With the leftist coalition holding a relative majority, they aim to form a government and propose a prime minister, and are calling on President Macron to give them the opportunity.
