France is joining four-nation military drills in Asia. France, the UK, the U.S., and Japan will conduct drills, joined by France’s Mistral amphibious assault carrier.

France’s ambassador to Japan says the drills are not totally related to the threat posed by North Korea in the region.

Thierry Dana, the French Ambassador To Japan, spoke about the drills.

“My second point is that although the joint training with the four nations is obviously unrelated to North Korea’s missile test, it is still an illustration of the spirit of cooperation and understanding between four nations which respect the law, peace and regional security and also shows our solidarity and cooperation in the face of situations such as with North Korea.”

North Korea test fired a ballistic missile hours before the ship arrived.
