Shocking collisions come with the territory of high-speed motor races, but it is not often a car ends up on top of another without there being a serious pile-up.
But on the third turning of the Circuit de Navarre race in Northern Spain, that is precisely what happened as one Porsche car was left with absolutely nowhere to go, mounted on top of an opponent.
Barely 20 seconds into the Porsche Carrera Cup, two cars ended up going bumper-to-bumper, with one hapless driver left wondering how to get out, and the other no doubt fearing if his roof was about to cave in.
The remaining competitors managed to avoid the bizarre incident, veering either side of the freak crash to continue to vie for a solid position at the start of the race.
Thankfully, it does not appear that anyone was hurt, as driver Jules Gounon’s car managed to clamber on top of Joffrey De Narda’s roof with only smashing a windscreen.
The full video of the race broadcast on Eurosport shows the build-up to the collision from De Narda’s car, with the driver then immediately removing himself from under the pressure of the Porsche overhead.
