When the world around you is full of violence, be the one guy with the “Free Hugs” shirt.
In the middle of Charlotte, North Carolina, rioters were filling the streets. The protest was about 43-year-old Keith Scott, who was shot dead by police without any known reason. Among the mayhem there was a single guy with his cameraman wearing a t-shirt.
During the tension and brink of violence he was trying to spread a message, and was met with success, though it took some time to get the message across. At first, some protesters were outraged, but eventually understood and got their hug.
Not only the protesters got a hug, at one point a police officer came to say thank you and got a hug — in full riot gear. A powerful moment we can only hope to see repeated.
