Freedom Not Indoctrination: Rep. Norman on Supporting TikTok Sale or Ban Bill

The House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed a bill Wednesday that would require TikTok’s Chinese parent company ByteDance to divest from the app or have it face a ban in the United States. A supporter of the bill, Rep. Ralph Norman (R-S.C.), told NTD he voted in its favor because he wants “freedom” and not “indoctrination”—while also highlighting the serious national security risks posed by the app in terms of Americans’ personal data ending up in the hands of China’s communist regime.
